A dynamic think tank of international repute influencing public policy

ZIPAR bids farewell to its immediate past Board Chairperson – Mr. Chola Chabala

Immediate Past ZIPAR Board Chairperson Mr. Chola Chabala is proud of ZIPAR because of the quality of research and policy analysis outputs the institution has produced over the years. He said ZIPAR was respected both locally and abroad adding that cooperating partners such as the World Bank and the European Union in Zambia were comfortable to work with ZIPAR because of its credibility.
Mr. Chabala made these remarks during a farewell come together hosted for him by ZIPAR Management and staff on 22nd April, 2022 . Mr. Chabala who is also former Permanent Secretary for Development Planning at the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, stated that Government depended on independent and autonomous think tanks such as ZIPAR to provide evidence-based information for sound public policy formulation.
He added that ZIPAR was never politically aligned and its independence and autonomy in carrying out its mandate had won the trust of Cooperating Partners in Zambia. Mr. Chabala also observed that ZIPAR was a good example of a grant aided institution because of its out standing clean financial record for the past 10 years.
“I never had to sweat when appearing before the Auditor General’s Office when it came to representing ZIPAR because you have maintained a clean audit record for the past 10 years,” he said.
Speaking earlier, ZIPAR Executive Director Dr. Herrick Mpuku said it was important to recognize Mr. Chabala’s contribution towards the development and stability of ZIPAR. He stated that ZIPAR encountered many challenges in the past but with Mr. Chabala’s guidance to the Board, and support to the Management, the Institute weathered the challenges. He wished him success in all his future endeavors.
Mr. Chabala was Board Chairperson for ZIPAR from 2017 to 2021.
