ZIPAR and Zambia Army Sign MoU

On 23rd January 2025, the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) and the Zambia Army signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a monumental step towards collaborative research, innovation, and national development.
This MoU marks the first official agreement signed by the institute together with an arm of the defence wing of the Republic of Zambia signifying a huge step forward towards the importance of network building in achieving sustainable development.
Speaking during the signing ceremony held at the Zambia Amy headquarters, ZIPAR’s Interim Executive Director, Zali Chikuba stated that the collaboration reflects the alignment of two forward-thinking institutions with a dedication to nurturing intellectual growth and generating impactful research, and a shared vision to contribute to the pillars of national development.
“At ZIPAR, we are driven by a clear mandate to provide evidence-based policy analysis that informs decisions aimed at fostering sustainable development. Over the years, our work has empowered stakeholders including Government, private sector actors, and civil society to address pressing socio-economic challenges. It is through partnerships like this that we amplify our efforts, bringing together complementary strengths to achieve greater impact,” he added.
Zambia Army Director General-Research and Development Branch, Brigadier General Emmanuel Chilala Choonya, expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the finalization of this MoU.
He highlighted the Army’s commitment to exploring mechanisms that will serve to encourage and enhance cooperative work in the areas of mutual interest for the benefit of the two institutions.
