On 23rd August 2024, the Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research (ZIPAR) and the Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
This MoU marks a significant milestone towards enhancing collaboration in policy analysis and research, dialogue and advocacy, and capacity building within Zambia.
ZIPAR, a leading think tank under the Ministry of Finance and National Planning, and EAZ, the professional body for economists and related professionals, have come together with a shared vision to advance economic literacy and support evidence-based policymaking in Zambia.
Key Areas of Collaboration:
- Collaborative Dissemination: ZIPAR and EAZ will work closely to share research findings with key stakeholders, organizing public discussions, seminars, and workshops to engage policymakers, practitioners, and the public.
- Pooling of Resources: By leveraging ZIPAR’s research expertise and EAZ’s extensive network of professionals, this partnership aims to create a powerful synergy in conducting and disseminating high-quality research.
- Strategic Planning: Both institutions will align their work plans, prioritizing research areas that address Zambia’s most pressing economic and social challenges.
- Promoting Togetherness: This MoU fosters a spirit of collaboration over competition, ensuring that the joint efforts of ZIPAR and EAZ are greater than individual efforts.
- Capacity Building: Another key focus will be on enhancing the skills of students, researchers, staff, and stakeholders, ensuring that the next generation of economists and policymakers is well-equipped to tackle future challenges that the country may face.
This partnership underscores our commitment to working together towards a more informed, innovative, and inclusive approach to economic policy in Zambia. We look forward to the impactful work that lies ahead as we embark on this collaborative journey.
